This past weekend Coach K was invited to the Basketball Hall of Fame for a chance to learn some new things to improve as a coach. The list of speakers included the following:University of Massachusetts Coach Derek Kellog, Coach Tom Moore of Quinnipiac University, Coach Mitch Buonoguro and the Director of Basketball Operations Tyler Simms of Siena College.Special Thanks to Mr. Shay Berry and Five Star for the invite. Here is a picture of Coach K and Drexel University Coach Bruiser Flint.

I have been presented with the honor of being selected as an instructor for the Hoop Hall Dreams Overnight Camp at Westfield State College/Basketball Hall of Fame in Mass (August 5-9 Sunday-Thursday). If anyone is interested in sending one of their young men please see as soon as possible. I am looking to have at least 4-6 players from EBB to participate in this camp if possible. EBB is committed to the improvement of our student/athlete through education on and off the court.

This weekend started slow for Education Before Basketball and finished fast. The weekend started with the 13U team battling the CT Breakers into OT eventually falling short 59-55. The first game for the 12U team was a hard fought battle with the CT Breakers with EBB prevailing 53-44. The second game of the day for the 13U team started very sluggish and finished with strong, but not strong enough falling in the second half 56-45 to the Mass Premier. The second and final game of the day for EBB had them in a battle with the Boston Warriors, which in the end EBB came out on top 43-33, ending a strong day for the 12U team and a day of learning for the 13U team. Sunday for EBB fared much better for both the 12U and 13U teams. The day started with the 12U team building on their momentum from Saturday’s games by started fast and finishing fast against RABC EBB winning going away 53-26 setting up a Championship Game with the South County Hoops 12U team. The first game of the day for the 13U team was a rematch of last weekend’s Championship Game in Boston. EBB started slow, but finished fast eventually pulling away from the South Shore Nets 40-23. Now it was time to see the game everyone wanted to see EBB versus South County Hoops for right to be called the 2012 “Breakout” Champions. It started out with it looking like it was going to be a battle to the end, until the smothering defense of the 12U team took over and scored on numerous high percentage shots to overtake the South County Hoops team and run away with Championship 66-47.Great games this weekend by Isaiah Williams(leader in points),Jamani Eaton(leader in assists),(leader in rebounds)Melvin Floyd III,(leader in hustle)Charlie Reiss and James Holley. The 12U team finished the weekend 4-0 and the 13U team went 2-2.EBB continues to improve everyday!!!!!! Education Before Basketball would like to give a special thank you to Mr. Dave Vitale and Ms. Lee Buchanan and the staff at the Hilton.
