This past weekend the ladies of EBB went to Richmond, Virginia to play in the 2015 U-Turn Memorial Day Tournament with the expectations of playing hard and strong. The first game was against the Charlottesville Dream. After a slow start the ladies of EBB tighten up on defense and ran away with a 50-26 victory and on to our game against the Powhatan Predators. Again the ladies of EBB started off slow, despite getting good shots at the basket the ball just wouldn’t go down. The ladies of EBB stayed aggressive on both the defensive and offensive end of the floor, despite the physical play of the Predators. Again the ladies settled down and ran away with a 65-40 victory and on to the next game and a chance to go undefeated and win the “CHAMPIONSHIP”. Our last game of the was against the FCF Ballers a game that showed the maturity of the EBB ladies. After sharing baskets with the FCF Ballers the first 10 minutes of the 1st half, the EBB ladies settled in and took over the game running the clock and scoring off steals, due to constant pressure. In the end EBB ran away with a 51-39 victory and the “CHAMPIONSHIP”!!!!!!!!!!! Star Players of the Game: Destinee McDonald, Alaijah Ragland and Zanequa Thomas our floor leaders. Our post was controlled by Kaniyah Key and Kajesha Taylor who did a great job of playing interior defense and rebounding. Also our substitutes Camiyay Taylor and Tatiana Allen did a great job of keeping the pressure on when the starters needed a break.

The weekend of April 25-26 was a first in the history of EBB Girls program. Our girls participated in the 540 Super Showcase in Roanoke, VA. EBB competed against the Virginia Basketball Club, Virginia Elite and the Lady Renegades. The ladies of EBB played extremely hard for a group of young ladies who hadn’t played together as a team. They showed signs of improvement, despite playing 3 games in 1 day (including back to back games) against 2 of the best teams in our bracket.

On the weekend of April 11-12 the 5th-6th grade young men of EBB played in the Trailblazers Spring Classic at American International College in Springfield, MA. The day started off with a tough game against the Central Mass Warriors, in which after a hard fought battle EBB was defeated 47-34. In game 2 the young men of EBB came out with a purpose against the CT Northstars and though it was tough game EBB prevailed 42-36. In the last game of the weekend the young men fought hard, but in the end fell to the CT Defenders 47-25 finishing their first tournament 1-2. As the Director of EBB I am extremely PROUD of the young men and their commitment to improving as students and athletes.
